Hi Rich
Great software!! I'm just finishing up my rotary axis. With your software
can I just plug my Y axis into my rotary table, or must it be assigned A in
Mach3.
Right now I have only X, Y, and Z. I have been testing by unhooking my Y
axis motor and hooking that to my rotary table.
Thanks for any information, and keep up the great work!!

Yes you connect the rotary table to the Y axis connector. However, you must assign A, B or C to the Y axis pins (I recommend A). When you are not using the Y axis you disable it in ports and pins. When you are not using the rotary axis (let's assume it's A) you disable the A axis. In other words, only the axis in use is enabled. If you operate your rotary table in this manner you will not be able to use the polygon wizard as it requires the Y axis as well as the rotary axis. Instead of enabling and disabling the unused axis, you can maintain two different profiles.olf20 wrote:Hi Rich

This arrangement is fine to get started with your rotary axis, but I would recommend that you plan on eventually getting another motor driver so that you can use all of your axis at the same time.

Ok, I took on your challenge. The pictures below show a carving I did today of a grape vine wrapped (using my Indexer Wizards) twice around a cylinder. I know the carving sucks, I'm just a beginner with Aspire, but I think the pictures prove my point.Greolt wrote:My mistake I think.rgoldner wrote: Think about it for awhile. It's the exact same process. I'll see if I can make an example model in Aspire and cut it. I have barely started to use Aspire so it might take a little time for me to come up with something.
Ahh, I think I just realized where you think the problem is. With a 3D model you are cutting away everything except the proud area while with a 2D model you are cutting away the model area. The column I cut showing the fleur de Lee (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) actually had the background cut away. Aspire did it automatically. You might want to take another look at the column and the Aspire model in the first post in this thread.
I presumed more than you intended when you said the model must be angled. The 'fleur de Lee" is just a simple one time wrap. That is quite simple.
I mistakenly thought that you are wrapping a model more than one 360 degree instance.
For an example of what I thought you meant look at the pic. In this case the text is angled and wrapped several times around the job.
Right now a job is running on my router where I have wrapped a 3D model in a similar manner to the text shown below. Have to see if it comes out right.

Rich I have started a thread on using aspire on a 4th axis.
Hopefully many methods will be discussed.
I would encourage you to contribute.
