Router takes the plunge...

Post by GripUs »

I would appreciate it if one of you actual wizards could look at this and tell me why the bit plunges to Z-.392" when it is supposed to cut Z-.125"

After the last two days, I have come to believe an ex-wife is inhabiting my CNC.

It can’t be your ex-wife. Ex- wifes only plunge into wallets.

Hello Joe,
Not knowing all the planned depths it is hard to say, but there are several plunges to -.250" in the program. That does not explain a depth of -.392 but it is twice as much as the -.125 you mentioned. Looks like a safe z 0.236 and z 0.787 when it homes.

4 instances of:
G1Z-0.250F30

Joe,

What's the history of your setup? Has it been working fine up til now? Make any changes to anything? I would start with some very simple toolpaths to see if you can spot the problem. Check all the linkages to motors, etc.
