I have decieded to replace my cheap chinese 3020 machine with a new build.
However I wish to use my current controller and Mach 3 settings as I still want to use my 3020 for fine work.
The steppers on the 3020 are nema 23's 57BYGH56-4017B x2 and a 57BYGH41-402B, Unfortunately I am not sure what steppers I can use to replace them and still keep the controllers settings.
The controller is a TB6600 stepper driver
The new machine will have a cutting area of 3ft x 2ft x 4inch
Any advice on steppers will be greatly appreciated as I dont have a clue about them.
Thanks
Scott

To answer that properly, you need to provide details of the drive system(s), how much weight you are moving, and how fast you want to move it.

Re: stepper motor replacement help needed
Thanks for the reply,
However I can not answer that as the machine is still in the design stage and everything revolves around getting the equivalent steppers to the originals. I dont want to have to get a new controller as I am trying to build on the cheap.
So need to keep original controller and settings so as to not have to keep messing around changing settings when switching between machines.
I dont need a machine thats fast, just one with a bigger cutting area. I 'm sick of using an area of 8in x 10in.
I intend to use BallScrew and I think they are called linear supported rails.

Re: stepper motor replacement help needed
Those motors appear to be about 2.8amps, 175oz-in.
So anything in the 2.5-3amp range should work.
These would be similar to what you have. https://www.automationtechnologiesinc.c ... duplicate/

Re: stepper motor replacement help needed
I've had an ordering frenzy.
So far I have ordered :
2 x 1200mm supported linear rails 20mm
1 x 1200mm ballscrew 16mm
2 x 750mm supported linear rails 16mm
1 x 750mm ballscrew 16mm
2 x 200mm MGN12 linear rails
1 x 200mm ballscrew 16mm
3 x 23HS8430B stepper motors.
The MGN12's might be a little too small but I will wait until the 200mm ballscrew turns up and have a prototyping session.
