Dear SkyBolt

Do you mean tool database or post-processor?

If you check the Support - VCarve section of the Other Machine Co. website

https://othermachine.co/support/2d-3d-design/vcarve/

You will see how to 'create' modify your own tool database to utilise the cutters you are using.

Then when when ready select the OTHERMILL TingG (mm) (*.tap) Post Processor.

I hope this helps and good luck

Dear Don

You will be 'creating' your own tool database I’m afraid, to suit your own cutters and needs depending what you are cutting, how much you are 'taking off', the speed of your spindle, the feed speed of your machine etc.

I realise this is quite daunting when you first start as you'll have no experience to get you started. All I can suggest is start with small passes - if you are cutting 'wood' you should be creating small chips or shavings rather than 'dust'

The tutorial here will give you an overview of vectric's tool database.

What tools did you get supplied with the Othermill? I see the Othermill Tool Kit has a 0.4mm and 0.8mm end mills. I could understand you not wanting to break these. May I suggest you get hold of some inexpensive 3, 5 or 6mm TCT router cutters and practice with those.

I see it has a Spindle Speed 8,000 - 26,000 RPM is this programmable or is it 'hard wired' switch on the unit.

Any way I'll be watching this post to see how you get on.

Yours sincerely
Martin Reid

PS what is a Jason File?
