Was looking at spindles on eBay and noticed Hertz Spindles made in Turkey.
I am wondering if anyone here has purchased one? Any comments on quality, etc.?
It appears they have been selling on eBay for a number of years but this is the first I noticed them. If quality is better than the Chinese options I may try one.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

There are a few threads on them on CNC zone and people seem happy with them especially compared to the Chinese ones.
It's nice that they have a proper website - http://www.hertzmotor.com/ - as well with all the technical info available in PDF downloads. I may well look into the viability of one as a spare for my very expensive HSD spindle.

Adrian,
That is sort of what I was thinking from what I was seeing. Prices don't seem too bad. I like the fact there is a reasonable priced option other than the Chinese.
Was just wondering if anyone here was using one, a lot of views but no other comments.
Thanks for the response,
Scott

I was going to buy one, but for now, decided to spend less than 1/2 for a chinese spindle.
One thing I noticed when looking at Ebay, was that they come in different configurations.
The CKS model, seems to be heavier duty, and is only slightly more money.

It looks like the seller has a variety of spindles and VFDs available: ->eBay Link

Gerry,
Thanks for the info.
How long have you had the Chinese spindles? Are you happy with them? Are they air or water cooled?

Re: Hertz Spindles from Turkey - Anyone use one?
I've had them for a while, but haven't used them on a machine yet. Just test run them on the bench. I have two air cooled 2.2Kw, that were $200 each.
Hundreds, if not thousands of people have been using these spindles for years (mostly water cooled, but more air cooled recently). If you set up the VFD properly, they are pretty good spindles, for the money. It seems that most issues that people have are due to incorrect VFD settings. These spindles aren't very tolerant of incorrect settings.
