Maslow

Post by highpockets »

Ran across this site last night, have no idea what I was researching at the time :D :D :D http://www.maslowcnc.com/

It will not replace a high end CNC, but it's fun to see what can be accomplished on the cheap. Interested to see where this goes in the near future.

Can't quite get my head around how it cuts without being deflected but it obviously does, presumably it's shallow cuts and the bricks stop it being pushed/pulled. For what it's intended for it looks like a really interesting piece of kit.

Now that they have a z axis add-on, that could be a great shop helper for breaking down sheet goods into rough components. Load a sheet, let it run while you work on something else.

Neat idea.

Doug, my thoughts exactly. Seems like it would work for breaking down a 4x8 sheet and if you didn't need anything more accurate than a 64th it might just do for a finished project.

Anyway, I thought is was an interesting idea.

Adrian,

Shallow cuts and really slow cutting: https://youtu.be/05W4egqLVEM?t=1m18s (starting video at 1:18 shows actual speed)

Based on one of the video's it cuts at 25 ipm.

If it's breaking stuff down while you're doing other things it's not so bad. Howevr, do you have to manually adjust the cutting depth for each pass? That would slow things up a bit.

They now have a Z axis for $60 from what I've read.
