I have one of them, 3mm and I like it.
I only get one hit when I google "fishtail router bit".
The cutting edges are crossing like an X at the tip, so it's cutting with the shoulders.
Do you know another name for that bit?

Re: Router bit with fishtail tip
Actually I did not know such a geometry was available. It's new to me. I don't know how long this has existed.
I googled Router Bit with fishtail and a lot popped up.
Interesting, I will try this over the winter.

Be aware that these are fine for profile cuts but for pocketing they can tend to leave swirl marks on the bottom of the pocket.

Ohhh, I am very much aware that this is NOT a good geometry for a nice smooth flat bottom.
For hole making where the hole size is controlled via circular interpolation is where I see something this.
Nice smooth flat bottom pocketing is another whole process discussion.

Re: Router bit with fishtail tip
Very good for CLEAN sidewall cuts, and leaves a little "tooth" on pocket bottoms for gluing dense oily woods. Seem to have a cleaner top edge with less splintering, and very clean bottom on drill throughs/cutouts. I only have used the .117" though from here;
