Digitizing Tablets

Post by rwebcon »

I’m looking for a Digitizing Tablet DXF that I can use to input part drawings into aspire software. The accuracy can be around .01. I do not want to spend over $1000 for something around 12 X 18 inches. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Do you know anybody with an 11x17 scanner?

Maybe you could go to your local office supply store and get it scanned.

Once scanned you can vectorize it on your screen

Not familiar with how I would vectorize a scanner image to scale?

I bought a MicroScribe Digitizing years ago when I got the Rhino Software. I have never used it and it just sits in a closet. I know it works with Rhino and Solidworks, but not sure about other software compatibility. If it's something you can use, let me know, you can get it for pennies on the dollars. I don't use it, so make me an offer. email: garylmast@earthlink.net

You can scale a scanned image to an exact size by importing the image into Aspire/VCP, and then constructing a rectangle onscreen with dimensions that correspond to the actual length and width of the image. Then, expand the imported-scanned image to match the constructed rectangle.

My local copy shop has a large scanner, and they can produce a PDF file of the scanned image that works well for this purpose.

That make sense, that would scale the drawing to size. I will give it a try. Thanks.
