CNC went crazy

I just had some major problems.

I created a muti toolpath sign the other day and all went good.

I created a new different one and all looked great in Aspire. Went and set it up on the machine, zeroed everything out and it machined the first toolpath way off center on the length. I re checked Aspire and the job dimensions and everything was fine.

I just r-e tried to do it again and all was going fine, it was centered but out of know where halfway through the cnc went crazy. It just started going completely off path cutting through the lettering and past the jog dimension size into my clamping hold down.

Luckily I was right there and stopped it without damage to the machine or the bit but know 2 pieces of black walnut garbage and more frustrations continuing.

Why would the machine just go completely crazy like this?

Do you use the same Post Processor when saving the file? Did you have an offset set in the job dimensions (common when importing vectors)?

Most likely a hardware or control software issue, bit more detail on your set up would be helpful.

I know this gets way over used, but it sounds like lost steps.

It is a stepper motor thing.

Can you contact the manufacturer for support?

Can you tell us more about the process - feedrate, depth of cut, type of cutter, how many flutes - stuff like that.

If there are no proprietary components, can you post the vectric file?

Were you following the work with a shop vac by chance? When I first got my CNC I was doing just that and a static discharge sent my CNC running off where no g-code had directed it to go. Also ruined the job in progress.
