I received my spindle and VFD (E500 Sunfar) this week from Automation Technologies but is not working (no display at all) when powered. My e-mails and phone messages have gone un-answered since Fri. afternoon (they were open since I was instructed to leave a message for John).
I need a new VFD this week, should I go ahead and order the appropriate Hitachi and hope that Automation comes through with a refund?
The only connections I made were to R (L1) and S (L2).
Thanks
Greg

Re: Automation Technologies VFD
Greg,
Have you verified that you have 220-240VAC across L2 & L2? I have heard some not so favorable reviews of the Sunfar Vfd's, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me if it was faulty.

I haven't heard about E500 Sunfar until I read your post. I wouldn't buy a Chinese made VFD on eBay or any place since they seem to be very unreliable.
VFD market has matured during the last 4-5 years. There are lot of good USA made choices at reasonable pricing out there. For an example, take a look at AC Tech's SMVector series and see how pricing compares to E500 Sunfar.
