I wanted to start a topic for people that will be using a HandiBot when they become available. My wife and I bought one through the Kickstarter campaign (hopefully we get the December delivery). We are total newbies to CNC work, so need to learn from square one.
HandiBot says that the software that comes with it is a version of Vectric's VCarve Pro. I have downloaded the trial software and started the tutorials, but feel that we need more basic training. Any suggestions?

Is there anything in particular that you're having problems with the understanding of the software? The tutorials are a great resource but if you're not familiar with the basics of how a CNC machine works it might be hard going until you've got that knowledge.
It might be worth joining the ShopBot forum (http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/) as the hardware and the software used is the same. There are already handibot threads there.

Re: HandiBot Users
John, welcome to the forum, best of luck with the machine when it arrives. What is it that you are looking to do when the machine arrives? Do you have any particular sort of work in mind for it? Reason I ask is because this might help with any sort of suggestions people might have.
You said you were looking for some form of training but what if anything are you struggling with or feel you need to know more about.
The tutorials are pretty good so difficult to know what else you might need help with, as Adrian says the shopbot forum would also be a good place to find info.

Hi John,
we recently added a new section to the Vectric Website which is intended as basic introduction to CNC and some of the language involved. You can read through the online info here: http://www.vectric.com/support/introduction-to-cnc.html and also download a detailed PDF document as well from the same pages.
Thanks,
James
