Use 1/4" round closed cell sponge rubber as gasket. Cheap and easy to get.

I have one of those vacuum pumps. Works great but puts out an oil mist which must be dealt with.

Finally found the pictures, that was a long thread :)
I like the way you made the plenum but............
How did you do the horizontal channel for the inlet?

Fortunately, here most people have their workshop in an open shed. Here in the tropics, the doors are never closed.
Have you ever seen a pair if Queensland Safety Boots?

Smartypants
I actually meant how deep did you drill it and what size drill?
But I think I can work it out now that I finally found the pic and description how you made the grid.
Got a large piece of pink perspex I think I can use for it.
Your videos don't work :(
Back to see how accurate te rebuilt CNC is now.

Finally got around to try out that vacuum pump.
 could have saved my money, the suction is almost non-existent.
Should have listened to the people in the know

I don't know what you have in way of a vacuum pump as this was originally quite an old thread but it mentions somewhere that the pump is rated at 9 cfm which would mean that you would have to use small vacuum jigs or pucs to hold your work pieces down rather than having a vacuum hold down system that covered the whole table.
You can link them together to hold larger work pieces down if you need to.
