Spindle ?

Post by Ms Wolffie »

When I eventually manage to get my spindle and inverter fitted, how do I determine the speed of the spindle?
I have a speed control knob on the inverter but how can I work out what is whatT?
I am not an electronics genius :(

While there may be cheaper ones found, this is a very handy tool for what I "think" you're after:

Hope that helps,

Is there a display on the front of the inverter? If there isn't a setting to directly display RPM's it should display the frequency and you should be able to calculate the RPM from there.

Wolffie,

If yours looks anything like this, it will display the rpm's.

I found a similar one in China that has no problem with shipping here, free delivery even, but neither Amazon nor any other one I found in the US will ship these to Australia.
I do not understand why?????

Yes, I believe that display will show the RPMs if I'm not mistaken.

If only I could get the thing to work :(
I connect power to the unit, it says "hello" continues to 00000 the something flashes on and it trips the circuitbreaker.
I have no idea what I have done wrong except that I cannot find the earth connection screw, so I bridged it to the spindle earth.

Spindles require a lot of power, I'm assuming a 2hp is 220v, 20A. Maybe the breaker is tripping because it is trying to draw more current on startup than your breaker allows.

No, the spindle is 220V, 8 amp.
The inverter even trips the breaker without the spindle connected.
The seller has just confirmed that there is no earth connecting screw in this model.
Where on earth/how do I connect the earth wire?

Pin 9 the one with the big E should be your earth. I have a attached a picture of mine with connection details as supplied. Remember that RST is the live in and UVW are the spindle connections.
