Updated FAQ area and new 'How To' section on the Vectric web

Post by BrianM »

The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) area on the Vectric web site at http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... rt_faq.htm has been updated with some new questions and the style of the page has also been overhauled.

In addition a new section called 'How To ..' has been added at http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... how_to.htm. This section contains 'mini' tutorials covering some common areas that people have asked questions about - a sort of extended FAQ.

Please don't forget the main existing tutorial page at
http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... orials.htm which contains a number of longer tutorials on both VCarve Pro and PhotoVCarve along with associated videos.

The new FAQ and How To pages have been created by Jay (dighsx) and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all the hard work he has put in.

I'm sure that both new users and experienced users alike will benefit from reading through this information - Cheers Jay!

Regards

Brian

I've got a few more how-to's in the works, if anyone has a request for a new how-to let me know and I'll work on adding them in.
Take it easy.

Hope this is the right place for this question.

Why don't I get automatic notification (via email) when a subscribed thread is expanded with a new message? In my profile, I have notify turned on.

"How To" Request

Post by CLyon »

Jay,
Very nice - a service to the community.

I'd appreciate a "how to" that gives me another couple of hours a day in the shop. Any suggestions (it must address conflicts with real work, sleep, kids, wife, dog, yard, etc.) Surely among us we must have the answer!

I'm still having issues with the email alert feature. I should have gotten an email saying CLyon made a reply. I didn't get one. My profile contains the correct email, and this message is checked for "Notify me when a reply is posted".

Is everybody else getting their notifications?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

I've checked your profile and it looks correct.

Have you checked your spam filter isn't blocking them?

We have had problems with Comcast blocking e-mail from our server
and guess this is why you don't receive the notification of the replies.

I have just sent you a PM - did you receive this?

Tony

I thought I had a trouble shooting method, but I failed. I was going to change my email notification to cuz_hsv@yahoo.com, but I was unable. The profile input seemed to want a password, and I stumbled with that input. There are a bunch of asterisks next to password and new password, so I was confused. It was seemingly demanding that I enter my password and change my password.

If you'd change my email notification then to the yahoo, then I'd have a good test case to prove the comcast problem.

Also,
I got your PM. I answered of course, but later I was trying to find my PM log, and couldn't find the link. It seems to be a hidden feature, or as my wife complains bitterly, it was another case of the "Man Scan". She means of course, I need to look harder. It's probably right there in front of me.
Thanks for helping.
Dave
