Hello everyone,
Brand new to the forum. Just got my first CNC router and it's up and running, thanks in large part to Vectric. Awesome product BTW. I'm looking for help setting up the 4th axes rotary. Not sure what the best way to figure the travel when tuning the motor using MACH3. I'm thinking the travel distance is in MM, but not sure what the easy way to measure this is. Maybe attache something to the chuck divided up in MM. Anyway thought I would ask before trying to reinvent the wheel, so to speak.
Look forward to talking to all of you and sharing the CNC experience.

Re: 4TH AXES
You will need to use a post processor that converts the x or y coordinate to an angular movement. There are standard Vcarve post processors for MACH3 to do this. Look on the list for Mach2/3-WrapX2A or Mach2/3-WrapY2A. It is only necessary to use one of these post processors when you use the wrapped job setup. Look at the tutorial on Rotary Machining 2D and 2.5D. http://support.vectric.com/tutorials/V9 ... ideo_id=45

Re: 4TH AXES
In Mach3, the Steps/Unit is number of steps per degree.

Thanks, guess I just need to get my calculator warmed up.
Re: 4TH AXES
Rotary up and running. Not as hard as I thought. Just carved my name into a section of PVC and looking forward to seeing what this baby will do.
Thanks to ger21 for the tip on degrees help to streamline things.
