I would like to scale a bit map so I can trace it to make vectors for cutting.

Thanks Bruce

You can't scale a bitmap in VCP.
You'll have to use a paint app or something like Inkscape.

Why not just trace the bitmap? Then you can scale the vectors to what ever size you'd like.

If you scale up a small bitmap then try and trace it the quality will suffer.

The size tool (press T) works on a bitmap the same way as on a vector so you can make a bitmap larger or smaller as you see fit.

But what if you have a file that you need to scale accurately?

Say you download a flat pack construc and you want to reduce/enlarge it so the tabs and slots are accurate to the material size you're using?

Same thing. Use the scale tool. It will scale as accurately as you need. Just type in the percentage value that you calculate from the original thickness compared to the desired thickness of material.

For example if the design is for 8mm material and you want to use 6mm material you would type (6/8)*100= into either of the percentage boxes (make sure the link box is checked) and hit Apply.

Obviously that would reduce the overall size as well as the tabs/slots but that's how the companies that provide these files do it as well. The thicker the material the bigger the model.
