Okay to use CA glue on vcarve inlays?
Okay to use CA glue on vcarve inlays?
Im doing some inlay work and im wondering if using ca glue and activator is a good idea to secure the inlay
This is an ornamental inlay. Has anyone ever tried ca glue and activator vs wood glue on a vcarve inlay?
Thanks in advance.

All CA ...1 week-3yrs now no problem. Rockler medium CA.
Have EVERYTHING ready to go and get clamped QUICK!! NOT much time to fuss with things!
scott
Oh, 1 FULL hour or more clamping to the max in my case...usually was removing waste within 3 hours...no accelerator.

Place matching indexing marks on the two pieces so you can line them up easily for gluing.

Thanks for the info.
This might seem like a silly question, but do you use a brush to spread the glue around? Do you just count on squeeze out to spread it around?
Thanks again!

Re: Okay to use CA glue on vcarve inlays?
Using the medium CA, I try to hit top edges of the female evenly, and excess pools at bottom....toothpicks/hibachi skewers to spread..clamp quickly and then invert so excess CA reinforces the waste to be removed.
NO Ca on the male parts....massive clamping FAST.....Record bench clamp works well.
I try for the most minimal gap so flat bottom adds to total adhesion.
Never yet put Ca on the Male Inlay, and it seems to work quite well.
2 reference pencil marks while dry fitted helps a LOT to get the most out of the 16 second open time.

If doing large areas, break up the pieces with a scroll saw to make clamping faster.
