A really good site to get glue information for pretty much anything is This to That -

I would not glue glass in a box/frame. Let it float in the grooves cut into the frame sides. I'm not sure if you meant solid surface material instead of "glass"?

Do you just have a stepped dado on the outside edge of your frame? If so, I guess you would be "forced" to glue the pane into it. (I would redesign the frame/box for the next one though.)

All good suggestions.
Let me add that I would use a polyurethane caulk if you need something with colour, instead of a clear caulk..
I use polyurethane on most of my glass window projects

Thanks for the replies! The top of the shadow
box is loose and attaches to the glass so you can
slide the glass in and out. This gives access to the
litho and the lighting.
I think I will try the silicone.

Yes, for that kind of application it certainly makes sense to affix the glass to the top piece. Thank you for explaining that. Silicon would be my choice also, as long as the glass panel slides easily.

Used clear silicone and it worked great!.
I'll post a picture in a few days as I complete
the gift.
