Trying to make a 3D cnc model

To make a 3d carving on wood do I have to do it in passes. I have an stl file that I put on the vcarve.

Try watching this video. http://support.vectric.com/tutorials/V8 ... 3D_GS.html
With 3d models you need to use the roughing and finishing toolpaths.
