Drawing Celtic Knots

Post by Phil »

This web site generates Celtic knots. Theres more to it than it appears. After creating the original image you can modify the intersections by right clicking on the intersection and selecting right, left, top or bottom. It's fun to play with. I had to do a "Print Screen" and bring the image up in Paint to be able to save as a "GIF". Then I traced in Inkscape and saved as an "EPS". I created the attached images with the program.

Phil, nice design,

I was just playing with your gif file. I brought it into Inkscape and converted it to vectors using edge detection (Path, Trace, Edge), and saved it as an eps. This I loaded into VCW, cleaned up a few noise spikes and simulated it. Nice, but it didn’t let VCW do its V stuff, so I drew a rectangle in the middle and another outside the design. Now the simulation was more 3D and what I was after.

Another program for Celtic knots.

If you enjoy Celtic knots this program is very versatile. The results carve very nicely with V-Carve.
