I imported a bitmap of the companies logo from a google image and used "trace bitmap"
I was able to successfully trace the custom font they appeared to use. Now I want to have it follow a curve but Vcarve does not recognize it as a Text so that is not an option (or so it seems)
So aside from rotating each letter individually to make it look as though it is curved, is there a way to make Vcarve think the Words are indeed a text?

I know of no way to get "real" text other than starting with it. What company logo are you tracing? Some will provide information on their fonts.

Try the Distort Selected Objects tool. Fifth icon in the Transform Objects line.
Or you can Google "What font is this?" and see if you can identify it.

A couple ideas...
Post an image and maybe somebody will recognize the font... Unless it's so stylized that it's not the font it started as.
Also, there are font creation/editing programs out there. They allow you to bring in vectors, and create an actual installable font. That reminds me... I had one once, but now I don't know where I got it. Probably it was part of some sign specific CAD software I had many years ago.

Re: Converting Traced "text" to "text"
Why are you tracing a google image? Surely the Company who created your logo for you has provided you with it in different formats so you may use it to create your advertising material.
I use to provide customers with all the detail they needed including the names of any fonts used.
As has already been said someone may be able to identify it if you can post an image or as has already also been said sites like what da font will help with font recognition.

Attached is the name I would like to have arced.
I certainly don't recognize the font. Especially the F or A.

If the company has the logo in just about any file format, there are easier ways than tracing to convert to vectors.
For snapping to a curve - someone above mentioned the distortion tool. You just draw the curve you want, and click on distort/above a curve, and select your logo and the curve and hit apply.
It gives results like this .
