Hello,
I'm just about finished working out the kinks in my new 48x48 CNC Router and getting it to cut accurately.
I've come up with a project that is just about twice the length of my table. Is there a way or technique to cut this object and then move it to complete the remainder of it without cutting it into two pieces? Would that be the way to do this but use a technique to put it together like a puzzle piece?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
The project is to build an Optimist Sailing Dingy. I found this project on Instructables if any one is interested.

Thanks,
Lee

Have a look at the tutorials for tiling - http://support.vectric.com/tutorials/V8 ... _2DTP.html

Absolutely YES
I just finished a 96 inch long sign on my 24 inch machine
Adrian gave you the link - it works great.

I just today did a 16" sign on a piranha that only travels 13 inches. I did have to reorient the x-y axes(plural of axis?) then use the move, resize, rotate button to rotate the pattern. takes some hoop-jumping and blocking to keep alignment, but it is possible

I didn't need any complicated reprogramming.
It was pretty easy really
I programmed up the whole 96 inch sign as normal, calculated the tool paths as normal.
I then simply turned on the tile feature and posted the code. The code all posted in the tiles I needed.
I did need to reposition my workpiece, but that was "really" simple to do.
There is nothing difficult, complicated or confusing about it.
I did take videos and pictures of the process but have not have time yet to post them on youtube.

Re: How to cut a project longer than my table allows
I have a job that is 2600mm long, and only have a 1400 cutting area.
Having watched the tutorial, I'm now ready to do it, and don't see any complications.
Ive done "pull throughs" before, on a sabre, and as long as you get the set up correct, then it,ll be straight forward. he says lol. Time will tell.

Thanks for your replies all. Had to go out of town for a few days and was pleasently suprised to see there is a solution to this. When I'm ready to go for it I know it can be done!
Are there any videos on this subject your aware of?

Do you mean how to do it in the software or the actual physical process of doing it on your machine?
If it's the former then I put the link to the video in my first reply to your question.
