Using previews on your web site

Post by Rcnewcomb »

Saving the previews for use on a web site to create a catalog of carvings has been very helpful for us. This way we don't have to carve a design on every type of material and we can still give the customer an idea of what it would look like. I've worked with the previews enough now to know how close the estimates are to actual machine time and price the carvings accordingly.

We have used the save preview feature to create the images for some of our pages:
http://www.222artisans.com/doors.php

I use the Mihov Image resizer ( http://www.imageresizer.com/ ) to create the thumbnails.
I use PHP and a MySQL database to track the part numbers and prices. So it is just a matter of uploading the pictures and updating the database to add new designs to our catalog.

The Red Oak is from an actual piece of red oak that we had in the shop. I'm glad the guys included the feature to add your own JPG files for material previews.

Randal,
Great Job of sizing them all the same size and being organized, I've toyed around with this same idea of a gallery with the saved preview images.
