If you are looking for good clipart then I'd recommend you take a look at,
http://www.vectorart.com - excellent affordable vector clipart that cuts really well.
http://www.doverpublications.com - image based clipart that needs vectorizing but still very inteesting designs.
If you register on the Dover site you get some free clipart every week and this week one of the pieces was a Merc SLR McLaren. I used Inkscape (Free from - http://www.inkscape.org/download.php) to vectorize the image and it went straight into VCW.
See - http://www.doverpublications.com/sa...106/sample6.htm
I grabbed the Merc logo from - http://www.brandsoftheworld.com and added it to the design.
Below are some preview images of the car carved in different materials,

I haven't viewed my mail from Dover Clipart for a few weeks now. And just ran across this image the artist John Sargent. The image looked so busy that I was sure that it wouldn't look quite right. Again I was wrong.
All I can say is WOW, I can't say enough about the Wizards at V-Carve. THANKS for great software.
On a side note. On the image with the ellipse, I attempted to delete the waste material and it didn't work. This is the first time I've had that happen.
Again keep up the great work
I would have uploaded the crv file also but its much to large( 6.21 ) to upload.

Bart,
Yes I used inkscape to vectorize the image. I'm no expert and never read instructions. So I just do the trial and error things ( usually more errors ).
I importing the file into Inkscape.
Click on the padlock inbetween the width and height size windows.
Select the Inch measurements.
Scale.
Click Path on the top menu and then select Trace Bitmap (Alt+Shift+B)
I then play with the Image Brightness and Optimal Edge Detection. They do give different effects.
If you use Image Brightness to trace your file. This will create a line on top of the lines on your file. Changing the threshold will make that line thicker or thinner.
If you use Optimal Edge Detection to trace your file. This will create a line on the outer edge of the lines in your file. Changing the threshold will make these lines thicker and thinner also. ( Becareful with this one, if you make the line to thick it will over lap the the other vectorized line )
For most of the things I've done I usually end up using Image Brightness. But there has been times that the Otional Edge Detection gives much better results.
So Test them both out.
I'm sure once VCW3 is released with the better editiing and text tools that with Inkscape ,CorelDraw3 or Adobe Illustrator CS2 will take most of the work out of concept to finished product.
The only thing we have to bribe the Wizards into is this type of vector conversion to their amazing program...... Oooppss did I say that out loud???
Hope this helps Bart.
