Do you flame polish anything when you do 3d?

Thanks everyone. As for flame polishing after cutting, I don't. I have tried flame polishing the edges but I just end up melting the acyrlic. :?

Here is my first attempt at an edge lit sign.
I have learned a bit about led's and resistors since.

i can't wait to get Aspire and try making some of these.
i want to make back plates for my each of my stairs with words and/or designs and top edge light with RGB strip so i can dim them down and use them as night lighting for the stairs and when i have more time make it so they change color or something as you walk up them

That is a cool idea, keep in mind that the risers on stairs are kicked by toes by folks when walking up.

do you think they would get scratched up?
i was planing on cutting the designs in the back side but maybe i should also put a thin piece of lexan in front or find a thin overlay like what you put on a cell phone to protect them

OK, I have read these threads over and over. I am obviously not understanding something. A couple of the responses here say these acrylic carvings can be done in VCarve Pro. I have the newest version and cannot for the life of me figure out how to make the praying hands (or any 3D carving) in the negative or mold form.

I do not see anything labeled Material Master, is that just Aspire? What am I missing?

Thanks,

Can I get some recommendations on the acrylic carving? What thickness and tool (Bit) are you using? Have you tried using color acrylic or just the clear? As you can see I'm new to this.
Any help and or advise would be appreciated.

Hi creek, I will tell you what I use, but I'm sure others have different ways then mine. I like to use one inch thick acrylic but have used 3/8" thick also.
First off I invert the profile, check my cutting depths, if all looks good. The rough past with a .125" bull nose w/20% set over. The finish past I use a .0625" bull nose w/ 12% set over.

I have got to try this. Does someone have details of what and where to get the stuff.

What plastic, and what is used to light these. Very cool
