Tattoo Machine Holder/Case

Post by Greasetattoo »

Here is a case I made for a tattoo machine..
Enjoy..

It is made from California Oak Alowood.
Flocked in black.

A regular tattoo machine uses coils.
This machine is pneumatic.

Do you not like the electric type?
Just wondering...

Actually, they both types are electric.
I have not used the pneumatic ones, yet!

I've heard they work really well.
Just, you need a dental air compressor.

Thanks for the all the kind comments.

Nice box!
What is the name of the hinges that you used, I've been looking for this style, but not having much luck?

Grease,
As usual...GREAT WORK!!

Woodworm,
Those are barrel hinges and there is a good discussion, including sources, here.

How did you get on with the barrel hinges? I'm reluctant to use the word 'hate'....but I don't like them. Are yours loose now that they are fitted? Either in the holes, or the hinge part itself?

Hi Grease,

Great looking fitted box! What is the California Oak Alowood composed of? Is it a laminated sheet etc? The box looks almost too good to use, wouldn't want to get it messed up.
Best regards,

You can read all about the alowood here.
http://www.alowood.com/
I believe it is a pine wood soaked in some chemical, to treat the color all the
way through...

Great stuff to work with.
Cuts like butta!

Rockler sells it, but I believe they are going to quit selling it, because
it did not go over very well.

I am stocking up on it though..
Cuts soooo nice.

As for the barrel hinges, I have had no problems with them.
They fit like a glove and then you just turn the little screws to
set them in.
Not loose at all!
