LadyBug...my first real model

Post by Turtle49 »

Well, I finally set aside a couple hours to do my first real model. By this I mean a model I actually plan on cutting.

Here is the tool path preview;

The model (square) is 6" by 6" and the lady bug is about 3/8" deep. The carving preview is cut with an 1/8" ball nose cutter.

What do you guys think?

That's really neat Tim. I'm curious as to how you plan to use the carving. It could make a nice plaque or maybe a design on a box lid or an element on a sign.

Box lid...maybe down the road. In the immediate future a Lazy Kate for my wifes knitting. She has dubbed herself the "Ladybug Knitter". So I am going to make her a Lazy Kate similar to this one. Obviously it will be a Ladybug instead of a pirate skull.... :D

Also I plan on building another spinning wheel and I imagine that the ladybug carving will show up on that as well.

Thanks for all your comments!
