My first attempt with Aspire!

Post by BSImages »

This my first attempt using Aspire. I used the flying Eagle that came with it and a Fish from The 3D Club. With a bit of tilting and positioning I managed to get the Eagle's talons embedded into the Fish. I then exported them as a single STL. I created an oval dish shape and added the Eagle & Fish STL.
Aspire is fantastic!
Sorry I haven't been posting for a while, but I have been recovering from an illness.

Well Bill, if you are going to create things like this then you will just need to STOP being sick and get to work!
Seriously, nice work on the carving and I am glad your recovering.

Nice work, yea, what Tim said, quit being sick already.

I also like that you are using what appears to be a self built machine! Your results are superb with it.

I'm curious, how long was your total cut time for this piece? Rough+Finish?

Thank you,
It took 3 hrs for the rough cut and 2.5 hrs for the finishing cut. The wood is California Redwood. And yes the machine is home built and designed.
I cannot believe how easy Aspire is to use, great job Vectric!

Nice work Bill.

Tip - Instead of exporting a merged eagle and fish STL file, I would recommend looking at using
the option to Group the 2 components together, then creating the dish and Adding the new Group.

Tilt and merge the 2 original original components - eagle & fish - as required.
Open the Component Manager - F8
Select the 2 components in the list - Holding the Ctrl key
Select the Group button - the name of the group can be changed by clicking twice on the name

The components can also be Selected and Grouped in the 2D view

Open the 2D window
Select the required grayscale previews using Shift to make multiple selection
Press Ctrl + G = Group

I hope this makes sense.

Tony

Thanks Tony,
That makes perfect sense, as that was the steps I took before exporting them a single STL. The reason I exported them was for possible future use of it. Though I will probably redo it as the that looks like a very ambitious Eagle with that huge fish. Looks a lot like "the one that got away"

Glad you said that Bill, I was thinking that Eagle had like Turbo Boosters! But it still looks great anyhow! And it gives fisherman something to think about in their itty bitty boats. . . .
