Outdoor scene wall hanging

Post by Mike E »

A friend came in with a "rush" christmas present job. He had 3 mink hide stretchers and wanted something outdoorsy for a gift.
I used a 1/16 ball with 10% stepover. Ran at 18,000 rpm, 100 ipm. The long scene was 2.5 x 12" and took about an hour, The other 4 smaller carvings were about 2 3/4 dia and took approx 5 min. each. No roughing pass, strictly "x" raster finish cut.
A fun way to pass the afternoon, watch the snow melt, and kill a 12 pak.

Happy Holidays
Mike

Hide stretchers??

I guess they use them after the "mink" gets tired of its skin, to keep the hide from getting wrinkled while it drys.
