Coaster?

Post by rtibbs »

I "borrowed" this idea from a recent Woodsmith magazine. They had an article on making a set of coasters. You know, the hard way with a hand router, templates, fixtures etc.
I drew up the vectors and made the toolpaths for a double sided project. Used Maple and Walnut for contrasting colors.
Mine is 4" in diameter, coaster size however I don't think it will make a good coaster as it is completely open.
I'm going to upsize it and make a Trivet instead.
This one I did to work out the design.

Nice job!

Sorta funny, a while back WS did a multi part article on how to build your own cnc router. Hmmmm. . . .

WS received lots of flack over that article. The "Purists" don't think CNC'ing is woodworking. Hey, to each their own.....

I like the trivet idea, but you will need to call it a una-vet; it only has one leg
