Aluminium Sculpture

Postby Henry B » Tue Sep 17, 2019 10:20 am

I think I posted some pics when I was machining the sections of this sculpture. It got cast in aluminium, then welded all the sections together, made the top in 5 sections and put LED in 16 of the letters with acrylic fronts, painted the lid and it now stands in front of a new school in Stockholm. It weighs just under 1 ton.

All the cutting was done using Aspire.

Really Nice!

High praise from someone, me, who actually worked in the "Type Engineering" department in IBM Lexington which actually designed those...

Of all the cnc projects I have seen posted in my 2 yrs of owning a cnc machine, this by far THE COOLEST thing I have seen!
As a retired IBM’er its even more special. Well done Henry...very well done!

Thanks for the kind words :)

I made it for an artist so she gets the credit for it all from the city, as they commissioned the piece.

Its been a great project to do, glad its done and sitting in place.
