Re: Thailand
WOW!! Delicate piece of shoreline there too!
(tell me you didn't break it at any stage and I'll be doubly impressed)
Is that raised off the orange surface somehow, or is it just Maple doing it's thing after so much material loss?
"Suitable for Framing" indeed Rick!!
What was the orange backing, and how prepped for that finish?
Adhesive used for the Maple adherence to backing?
Inspiration for doing larger projects....which is saying a Lot:)

Re: Thailand
Thank you, Michael and Scott, for the kind words. I don’t know why the wasp-waist part of Thailand lifted up like that. “Maple doing what it does” works for me. I cut the border with 1/16” EM to get all that detail. The background is ordinary felt fabric from Walmart glued onto 1/4” plywood. And, for the record, it is intact. I did not break it.

Aah...Felt! Thanks!
OK...I'm "Doubly Impressed"
Kinda liking that shadow line/floating effect it makes.

rcastrap,
Stunning work
Would you mind explaining how you went about converting the map to carve a 3D image.

Re: Thailand
I'm not rcastrap, but here's a site that explains the process of making the STL file from a map. Once you have the STL file you can import it into Aspire.
