Valentine 2019 Oval Box

Post by Savannahdan »

Here's an oval box I cut over the past several days as a Valentine gift for my wife. The top and bottom are walnut (top is 1/2", bottom and top underside are 1/4") and the middle (box) is birch (1.875"). Used 90 vbit, .25 end mill and .50 end mill for cuts. The design comes from the Scrollsaw Workshop. She gave me a box of Lotte Korean Cacao Cakes and I picked up some Krispy Kreme donuts for her and the grands. Yummy. Happy Valentine Day to all.

Nice! Think I can make one in time before my wife gets home from work?? No? Gas station sushi (again) for her this year. But I have a full 365 days to forget about making it, and hitting up the gas station again.

Seriously, very nice and gives me inspiration for a birthday or Mother's Day present later this year (or next).

Thanks all for the comments. I got a bonus gift. She brought home some creamy strawberry ice cream from Culvers. I'm going to be fatter than a butterball before the end of the day.

I like it a lot too. There's just something about oval/elliptical boxes that caused me to make a few of them a few years ago too.

I didn't get any ice cream for making them though. I always keep a good supply on hand to help recover from projects that go badly, or very well. Matters not to me. :D
