I have had this project on the "white board" for a couple of years now. I need shelves in the "man cave". They have to be big - both tall and deep. It's my man cave so nothing "off the shelf" sorta speak will work. I have looked and looked for a good design idea and nothing. When going through the Vectric Free projects a couple of months ago I saw Micheal Tyler's Shoe Cubby and knew immediately that was the look. How upsized? 42" tall 18" deep 16 1/2 feet long The uprights were made from true 2"x8" cypress boards Shelves are maple plywood Lots of work still to do, but thought I would share a peek.
Michael, I love your designs, and let me say, I thought it would be easy to modify the fluted leaf carving until I tackled it. Your original flows so effortlessly, it was a week of long evenings trying to match the new parts to the original and even then I didn't achieve the same elegance but hopefully it blends well enough.
Will be posting progress pictures as progress is made.
I'm glad you posted this and that Michael did the original plan. I need a shelf for our master bedroom and the larger dimensions less a few feet long will be perfect. Thanks to both of you, WNC_Ed and Michael.
IF there was a little part of your brain that was wondering if it was worth the time and effort...... IT WAS!!! NOW you can say "It was the best I could do(at that time:)" VERY well done!! Congrats, scott
