First I just want to say that despite Alaska legalizing pot.... no drugs were involved.

"there once was a Walrus
who Dreamed to Fly
so he made him a
flying machine..

fresh out of Aspire...

Liking it Scott! :)

Probably because I've been trying to repair a Black Walnut Walrus, that was a VERY well done laser scan( IBILD) of a "73 Inuit Soapstone Walrus I love.
Material slipped with an Onsrud 30* Engraving bit, and sucked it up into collet and nut....basically unrecognizable, but attempting anyways:)
(Took soaking overnight in acetone to separate bit/collet/nut, and half hour to clean the spindle cone :oops: )

1.12.19  CUT 2016 WALNUT MISTAKE 1.jpg

Think yours will turn out as planned!
(Mine is "Morphing" on me,as had to go .75" deeper to leave only a scratch to remind me of the "Crater" and need for a secure hold down!)
1.14.19 RESCUE  WALRUS MORPH 1.jpg

Hope you don't mind the pics.
Just thought it funny we were both working on Walruses :)
I ain't got no ettykit:)

NICE! :)
THAT one I'm LIKING Scott!

NOT me Scott!
Sent it to IBILD(Brady Watson);
Nervous as Heck sending Soapstone Inuit carving out, as you can scratch it with you fingernail while rubbing it with natural face oils for patina!!
Wrapped in Fleece and bubble wrap,shipped, got a call from Brady asking if it was OK to Talc it (it was too shiny), and then got it back unscathed(and cleaned:) within a week :)
And the scan 3 days earlier;
WALRUS IBILD.COM Brady Watson.jpg

Had the scan for a year and a half , but was LOUSY at didn't touch it till VCP 8.5 came out.
Scan was so High resolution I could see the file marks I needed a magnifying glass to see in person.
Can't recommend IBILD enough!!
May send my Inuit "Shaman" head, now I'm more experienced, and won't worry about Brady's respect for it, and the care he took.
MAY try a 2-4 sided cut sometime in future in Macassar now I have the Tiny Radius 3"TBNs and some more experience.
Probably start a separate thread.
Walnut bark came off in one piece:) MAY play with it as it's a perfect fit...

...or add a small freeform Alaskan Black Jade carving on the flat.
Enough of my hijacking :oops:

LIKE the details like the goggles/beard/rope/ and especially the blimp and it's tail!
You've gotten REALLY good:)
How's it coming? Ready to carve?
