Pen and Pencil Box Completed
Well, I completed the first of two sets. All Walnut. The next set will be made out of Canarywood sometimes called Tulipwood. Carving the pen and pencil now. The spirals were turned on my Camaster Stinger recoil lathe and the blanks were drilled and turned on my Delta DVR lathe (last pic).

Aw shucks guys. Now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. All joking aside, thanks to all for the kind words.

I made the pen and pencil a little non-standard by drilling the hole for the brass tube and turning the blank round on my lathe. The tubes were not glued in until after coming off of the CNC. I measured the tubes and designed the blanks accordingly. The top and bottom of the box was designed as a two-sided project using the asymmetrical 3 hole method in Aspire and carved as raster.

Additional notes:
The pen and pencil brass tubes are the same diameter but different lengths. I designed and used a bit that probably doesn't exist but since they are cut as raster it really didn't matter.
Pen: Woodcraft part# 142416
Pencil: Woodcraft part# 141655
Outside diameter of wood blank: 7/16"
I don't sell anything I make. The project is not copyrighted nor is it a national treasure. Anyone can use the files for anything they choose. I just had a lot of fun designing and making them and I hope that anyone who decides to also make them has as much fun as I did.
