This Army Master Aviator Badge plaque was made for the guy who asked me to make the Purple Heart plaque for his brother-in-law. The 3D model was purchased online after my attempts to model his badge was not working out as well as I had hoped. This model came very close to a perfect match for his badge, though there is a minor difference. In a hurry to deliver it I didn't take photos after I had painted the top surfaces of the text gloss black. There are two layers of red oak so I added 1/8" thick padauk between them to add some color where a glue joint would be visible.
He gave me permission to show these projects to you guys in hopes that they will inspire you to do something similar to this for vets that you know.

Love the addition of the thin padauk. I can understand why they keep coming to you for these projects. Thank you for sharing and for taking care of them.
