Thanks Mike!
Substrate is 3/4" MDF
Rough=.25"bn Finish=.125"bn @ approximately 13 or 14 hours. I don't really keep track that well of the time anymore, lol. I have a WYZE cam that allows me to still babysit and take a lunch break, etc..
After gazing at it for a few hours, we decided it was a bit too stark so am in the process of adding a little more color to it. Will post an update when re-mounted.
Thanks again for your comments & inquiries !

Really nice! Can't wait to see it colored :)

BTW - for those like me who are "challenged" when it comes to coloring wood carvings there is a new book out by Lora Irish on how to do just that: Finishing Techniques for Wood Crafters. It covers a bunch of different techniques in detail depending on the type of finish you want on your carving. Available from Amazon or Fox Publishing. I find it very a very useful reference.

Thanks Fleming for the compliment and also for the tip on the book. Here it is with just some golden oak stain, no wipe. Nuthin' fancy but we like it lot's better.

Yes, it does look better with the stain. Tell us about the door frame. Almost looks like pecky cypress.

The house was built in '06 and the door trim is red fir, 99% of the wood trim in the house is red fir. It had a dozen or so layers of paint that we chipped off plus the original varnish that was used. We have not finish sanded or cleared the door trim yet. I doubt if it will change too much once that is done.
