Hot Foil Stamping Die

Post by backyard_cnc »

I had a first try at machining a hot foil stamping die today and result was pretty good for a first attempt and only using a simple 60 degree router V Bit for the carving. The impression area is 2.625" by 0.5" and it was done on a simple off cut of 6061 bar stock. Smaller tooling for a final toolpath would definitely enhance the finer details but overall pretty chuffed with how it worked. Final die will likely be carved in brass. It was designed and toolpathed in the latest version of Aspire! The die is for a friend of mine who makes custom handmade leather bags under this name and will be used to embellish leather nametags on her products.
