TReischl has started a bucket list topic about building a Brian Law clock.
Not wanting to hijack his topic, I thought I'd start one of my own.
Like TReischl, I can highly recommend Brians clock plans.
Here is my version of his Clock 23.http://www.woodenclocks.co.uk/crooked-clock.html.
Clicking on the pics should expand them to a larger size.
I decided to do some changes, like using smoked acrylic for the gears and clear for the spacers and pendulum pieces.
The timber is silky oak weather board that was removed from an old church and reclaimed from a builders rubbish pile.
One feature I really liked in this design, is the use of multi sided gears. Some 6 sided and some 8.
The weight is made up of 12 strips of timber, glued together to form a tube and sized using my 4th axis. It has a 3kg lead casting inside and is all clamped togther with a threaded rod and acrylic plates.
The numbers a V carved and painted gloss white to match the white PVC hands.
All the shafts are out of old photographic printers and are all mounted in bearings.
I used S/S fishing trace for the weight line.
So if making a wooden gear clock is on your bucket list. Move it up the list, you'll enjoy the journey.
