This is my first attempt with a text on text using aspire 3D.
Issues:
1. I set the depth of the cut to be .5" but it cut about .75". I used a touch plate to set the Z. It was a .75" board and when I held it up to the sun I could almost see through it. I put a .25 ply backboard on it so it helped
2. The cuts around the letters were rough and showed tool marks. I used poplar so I'm not surprised about the sanding needed but not sure about the tool marks which I couldn't sand.
I used a .25 endmill for the rough cut and a .125 ball nose for the finish with a step over of 8%.
Any suggestions?

Looks good.
Check your material Set Up to see if you accidentally had a .25" gap set down from the top surface of the material. If so, that could be one reason why the cut was made too deep.
