Epoxy Resin Sign

I watched a video from Phillip Lunsford on the Inventables website on epoxy resin use. I decided I wanted to give this technique a try. My wife and I recently tore out her garden borders and plants and completely redid her flower garden. What a great chance to make a few brownie points so this is the sign I decided to make. I used the West epoxy resin and slow hardener. Purchased acrylic paint from Michael's. I used a red, blue, green and yellow. For some reason the red turned out ORANGE. Still scratching my head on that one.

The process is very easy and fun to do. Had to buy some syringes and needles as well as the paint and epoxy. I will put links to the products I used and a link to Philip's video.

If you like working with colors I would encourage you to try this out. It was fun, came out nice and pretty easy to do.

Have always been a big fan of epoxy/corian designs, haven't done one in a while.

When using syringe it is critical to have a level surface and remember the pockets will overfill quickly - I like to under fill them, agitate the board to remove any bubbles, then slowly fill the pockets to capacity.
Can always be sanded down if you have overrun, then coated with a matte clear coat to make it pop.

Orange [a secondary color] is the result of red + yellow [primary colors], so you must have had some contamination in there somehow.

It was the entire mix that turned orange. Not just what was put in the sign. It was the color crimson so not sure.

We have done this a few years with logos in counters for Sonic and others, some of mine wirk close and over lap in colors, i keep it fastened to machine bed and do each color separate letting it harden each time, i use 1.00 ketchup bottles for some colors to control amounts
