My wife asked for a cutting board and I decided to make this novelty item. I call it the reversible cutting board.
I used 12 mm Corian for the cutting board since it is food save and kind to knives unlike wood.
One side is for juicy meats etc. The other side is simply a normal flat surface. The insert can easily be removed for cleaning without exposing the wooden base to water.
The base is cut out of American Ash with a 6 mm deep pocket to prevent the Corian part from moving and also that it sits 6 mm proud of the wood.
Measurements are 300 mm x 400 mm for the Corian board and 350 mm x 450 mm for the base.

Re: Cutting Board
Very nice design Joz. Well done. Will have to put that in my bank of "to do" jobs.

Re: Cutting Board
Nice design and implementation. Previously had not thought of it that way. Hope the my wife doesn't see it or I will have to borrow your design. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Cutting Board
I made one similar last year.
Unfortunately, Solid Surface materials are very hard on knives.
If one has a good steel, it's not a problem, but frequent use of SS will roll the edge of a blade.
