Waiters cabinet

Post by CarveOne »

The manager of the local San Jose Mexican Restaurant has been doing some renovations and recently asked me if I would make a new and better waiters cabinet. This is what we ended up with, and he is really happy that it has gotten so much attention from his regular customers. The solid red oak nameplate is the only CNC part of the project that is otherwise made of red oak veneer plywood and rope molding. The text is copied from their business card and imported to Aspire. It is pocketed with an 1/8" tapered ball nose cutter to 0.15" depth. After stain, three coats of clear satin polyurethane had cured I hand painted the text with gloss black polyurethane.

Yes, mostly free food though. I also gave him a couple of my old Aztec and Mayan Haab calendar projects to hang on the restaurant walls that were hanging on my shop wall and were just gathering dust.

Beautiful craftsmanship. Just goes to show the CNC is simply another tool in the workshop.
