This is a gift for a friend on her birthday. I decided to try Michael’s box in Corian. Due to possible problems with hinges, I decided to make a fitted lid by pocketing a 5-mm recess on the bottom of the lid for a snug fit. Copied from members that made a tray for the Paradise Box, I made small tray also out of Corian.
I really like the way it came out, just beautiful. How did you stain/color it and with what? I have some black corian I need to do something with. Didn't want to just dump some contrasting paint in the carvings.
Another way to remove excess paint with corian is to paint the whole thing with color of choice then scrape off the excess with a credit card type card. This removes most paint where its not wanted but of course anything engraved remains painted. When dry, simply use an orbital or mouse sander [light grit, 120 or so] to remove from all areas not engraved - I follow this up with a matte clear coat which really makes the whole thing pop.
