WV Paradise Box

Postby davemartin88 » Tue Oct 10, 2017 12:28 pm

Another variation on the excellent Paradise Box project, this one with a West Virginia theme. Need to finish sanding the tray. Box is oak, inlay is walnut. The wood is from trees taken down on my property a couple of years ago. Really happy with how the inlay turned, feel like I'm finally getting that process figured out.

Very nice rendition Dave. I like the two finger tray design also.

Sweet rendition. Love the notation on the front. And yes I'd say you have it down.

Thanks! I downloaded a free music font, Lassus, and then used it for the notes. I have no concept of sheet music but was able to get it close using the font and text function, then added a couple of manual lines to connect some notes. Had a friend look at it who understands sheet music and he said that if he saw it in a store, he'd say "it was not too bad" so close enough. The back of the box has some banjo riffs from a PDF I found searching. Thanks again.

Awesome looking project, thanks for the tip on the Lassus Font, I didn't know I needed it.... but now I have a ton of project ideas for it coming to mind.

I really am going to have to get on this Paradise Box bandwagon.

(I am taking my oldest on a college trip to Beckley (WV tech) next week. If she decides to go there I might have these in my future!)
