Well I am hoping this rendition of Michael's Paradise Box gets me into the Paradise Box club.
One of my co workers requested a box for his wifes business which she could use as a raffle box. The original PB came to mind that fit the bill perfectly. Just added the acrylic front panel and lit her up. Also scaled the whole thing up to a larger size interior dimensions of the box are now 10" x 9" x 6" deep. Material is all 3/4 Appalachian Cherry. 3/8" thick Acrylic for the front panel. Lighting was done with a Harbour Freight under cabinet LED strip light. 3 modes of operation dim lit, bright light & flashing bright.
The lid was not hinged as I keyed this so that she could take the top off and remove the entries. The black tape on the acrylic in the front is to stop the light from blowing up through the cracks of the lid.
All panels were v-bit engraved with her companies logo and her signature.
finish was simply 4 coats of Hellmans poly semi gloss with light sand 400 grit between coats. She is going to send it back to me after her first show this wednesday for a couple of coats of Bri Wax.
Fun project just a bit tighter timeline than I would have liked.
Hopefully I will be allowed entrance into the Paradise Box Club.

Re: Paradise Box Hybrid
Fantastic job Dwayne but I bet you didn't charge enough for it
Only criticism is the black tape, sure you could have come up with something a bit better than a couple of bits of sticky tape, a thin veneer strip across the full length of the acrylic panel maybe

Re: Paradise Box Hybrid
You are correct Martin I did not charge enough for it but my reasoning was there is definitely more jobs in the pipe on this one as I shared my portfolio with them and they are already picking things out.
I agree on the black tap application I wasnt thinking I could have run velcro cloth side along the right and left edges of the top which would have served two purposes one to center the top and two to block the light.
But hey that's what its all about is learn a little with each build. Plus I did not see all of your examples on FB until last night. Really really like the weave pattern.

Re: Paradise Box Hybrid
Dwayne, have a search on the forum, the weave pattern is not mine as I said on my page, CarveOne very kindly shared the weave file some time ago on this forum
The only problem with your reasoning (& I speak from experience) is that they may now expect all the future work to be at the same low rate so you just end up being a busy fool
