Chubby Box problem

Haven't finished this yet, in fact only really just started but I seem to have a problem with this project, not sure if it is a problem with the files or the machine yet, thinking the files may have got wet & shrunk some how

Ok, I see the ruler now. The dimensions of each side piece (after cutting out) should be about 3.5" x 7".

The files are fine. Did you do some type of scaling in your Job Setup? Check to make sure the "Design Scaling - Scale design with job size" is NOT turned on (no checkmark in the box).

Strange how the dowels seem to fit perfectly isn't it

Did a little bit more today, as you can see it's no where near 7" wide

Think I am going to call it the Not so Chubby Box

Did you check what I suggested earlier regarding Scaling? You may have had that activated by mistake. (The 3.5" X7" size is what the side panels should measure...not the width of the assembled box.)

Looks like a perfect size for tiny house people. Would mm vs inches be a factor?

Now if you shrunk a favorite sweater of a female by that ratio....THAT would be BAD!!!!

I thought you would have realised that by now Sorry it's my warped sense of humour !!!

It's not exactly a 50% reduction in size but close enough, had to enlarge the recesses in the sides a bit for the 6mm dowels, the 2 ends are 12mm Elm & the lid that hasn't been made yet will be the same material, just not decided on a design for the lid yet. Just need to look about for some kebab skewers now for the next one which I think will be about half the size again

I was thinking of making one using Toothpicks Scott but I think that may just be a bit to small for me

Don it's one of the monthly free Vectric projects that Michael Tyler creates, it's the May project can be found here. The original is twice the size of the one I have made though

Made some progress with mine today, sanded & glued the box, gave it a coat or shellac sanding sealer & then a couple of coats of wax. I did wonder if wax would be a good idea with the dowels being quite small but then decided that it would be OK, it wasn't actually the dips between the dowels that caused me a problem, it was either end where the dowels fitted into the recesses. Guess thats why tooth brushes were invented though as I was able to use a soft toothbrush to get rid of the wax that had got in there
Just the lid to make now & it will probably have some sort of Celtic design on it once I make up my mind

Working on my version of this. Did the "dry fit" today. Getting all the dowels to go into place is a pain in the @##. Any tips for doing this with glue? Also, do you think gluing the dowels together, along the long seams is necessary?
