New baby plaque cut for a very dear friend.
Material = Old Growth Redwood 5" x 14" x 3/4" thick.
Finish = A Seal 3 coats shellac prior to cutting letters and small hearts.
B Acrylic paints in various areas. Marsch Spray ink for lettering. Post sanding to bring edges back on lettering and smaller hearts.
C 5 coats rattle can Laquer #0000 steel wool between coats.
This was actually a 2 sided carving as there is personal wording on the back.
Hanger added and delivered.
Fun project got to learn a new technique for a corner that blew out. Took some silicone and made a positive mold out of one of the small hearts. Then place mold inside of the small heart that blew out.
Then masked the outside border with blue tape mixed up some redwood dust and tight bond and packed it in. Silicone popped right out after drying and then a touch of finish sanding. Came out pretty well.

Re: New Baby Plaque
Very nice. I like the hearts boarder. Can't tell where the blow out happened--good save.
