Engrave on 3-D work

I hope I'm asking this properly. Can I use the "Engrave" tool on top of a 3-D model?
As an example: If I made a half globe, could I put the latitude and longitude lines on it with the engraving tool??

Use "Project toolpath onto 3D model." The more pointed the bit, the less distortion you'll get near the lower region of the sphere.
